For a university project I'm more or less forced to use the wxWidgets toolkit to develop some application.
Having worked with this toolkit, I'm starting to realize that Qt wins on all aspects. Qt offers a logical API which does not require much lookups in the documentation. But if you need to do so, the documentation is there. And it is very complete.
When I started 8 months ago with a new job, I saw a big mountain of shit in front of me to climb. A mountain called Microsoft Visual C++. Not used to Windows development, I bravely started a new project with this application. With the excellent guidance of Arjan van Leeuwen
.
After having worked some time with MVC++, I must say the development with this application didn't smell as bad as I expected. It's quite a comfortable environment to work with and the debugging facilities are excellent (I dare to say it beats gdb).
Het is een poosje geleden dat ik voor het laatst hier iets geschreven heb. Dat heb je wel eens, dat je in een week meer C++ schrijft dan Nederlands (of Engels).
Although bash scripting is not a second nature to me, I'm able to implement some shortcomings on my system with it. One feature I missed in the KDE Trash was to remove old stuff. I wonder if there's anyone who has never got a trash of 3 GB or more. And totally forgot about it.
So this little script does the housekeeping. Once put in a cronjob, it will regulary check your trash and removes all files exceeding a certain threshold. At least I find it useful, so maybe some of you out there will like it too.
My first programming experience. Officially that's SuperLOGO, but I started to do something useful on my TI-83. The TI-83 calculator is 'just' a couple of generations younger compared to Ruurd's TI-58.
