It has been a bit busy lately, which may explain why I haven't been able to put much effort into our new KDE-NL website based on Drupal. It looks like the next few weeks will be less busy than this one so finally I'll have some time left for doing some actual KDE contributions.
Previous weekend, there was (a delayed) Software Freedom Day, organized by the NLLGG. A small but nice event in Utrecht, where I demonstrated KDE4 together with Jos. He did the talking part, showing some new KDE4 features to the audience.
And this weekend there was the second edition of T-DOSE. This year with my KDE cap (oh, forgot to buy one of those nice caps I found in the booth box), doing the same job as at the SFD: demonstrating KDE4.
The location has been an improvement. Last year it was in the Auditorium building of my university, but it was too big for the amount of people. So it was decided to move the event at the other side of the street at the Fontys in Eindhoven. This suits much better for the time being.
Unfortunately the Saturday didn't went as planned. Jos was a little bit late (5 hours or so) due to picking up the KDE booth box in Nijmegen first and a lot of struggles in between. Because I really couldn't leave the booth I missed the talk I'd like to attend about data structures.
But having the booth box was a relief: finally some nice t-shirts and caps (which I now realize I forgot to buy those), two nice monitors for demonstrating KDE and a lot of smaller merch. So a bare booth with a single laptop showing a slow KDE4 turned into a fully filled booth which was worthwile to show. Niels has made some pictures of it, don't know if he has uploaded it somewhere.
Sunday was quite the same, demonstrating KDE4 to the audience and teached some KDE users a few new tricks.
Two nice days, however I had the feeling there were only booth people attending the event. I don't know how packed the conference rooms were, but I didn't have the impression that there were many people which didn't belong to a booth or to the T-DOSE organisation. But still I think we should be there next year, it's important to show your face.
